The faithful dog
Dogs are friendly and loyal animals. They are playful and love human companionship. Pet dogs are always there for us, day and night, sharing in every activity from breakfast time through a cosy evening. Dogs wag their tail to welcome their master. They can share both our indoor and many of our local outdoor activities, but that's not all.
Dogs also play a big part in faimly life even when the family is not at home.
Once there was a farmer, who lived in a small village with his wife, and a pet dogs. The farmerror's wife got sick and passed away. Now the farmer had no one to take care of the baby and the house except his faithful dog. The dog was very clever and loyal. The dog protected the house and the baby in the farmer's absence.
One evening, the farmer returned home from his farm. He had left his baby asleep in the cradle. His faithful dog was watching over the baby. When the farmer reached the home, he saw that the baby's cradle was turned upside down and there was blood everywhere. The baby was nowhere to be seen. Then he saw that his dog was lying quietly with blood on his mouth and body. The farmer thought that the dog had killed his baby. He was very sad and angry. The farmer was so angry that he picked up his axe and hit the dog. The poor dog cried out in pain and died.
The farmer then rushed to the toppled cradle and lifted it. His little son was safe and sleeping peacefully under the cradle. A big, ugly wolf lay dead near the cradle. The farmer was shocked. He was happy that his baby was safe, and then he realized that his dog had fought and killed the wolf to save the baby. He realized his mistake. He had killed his faithful dog without thinking and investigating the situation.
